Yes, you finally can! We recently created an adapter, now included in our kits (2 per kit), that allows you to mount rod carriers on the smaller crossbar extrusion, even though that extrusion doen'st have a T-nut channel.
Step 1:
To install the adapter, first remove the Rod Rig kit from your vehicle if it is currently installed. Then, seperate the smaller crossbar extrusion by extending the kit until the smaller piece slides completely out of the larger extrusion. Remove 1 or 2 rod carrier assemblies by loosening the thumb screw and sliding them off the larger extrusion half of the crossbar assembly.
Step 2:
Insert the small extrusion adapter into the rod carrier assembly, making sure the t-nut slides into the recess along the bottom of the adapter.
Step 3:
Once the rod carriers are positioned on the small extrusion, reassemble the Rod Rig crossbar. Move the carrier(s) to your desired location and tighten the thumb screw; the adapter will pinch the smaller extrusion to secure the rod carrier and prevent it from sliding.
Note: Now that the adapter is installed on the small extrusion, the rod carriers can be removed without taking the adapter off. Simply loosen the thumb screw, slide the rod carrier off the adapter, and pull the rod carrier assembly down and out of the slot.
